Evidence-Based Nutrition For Chronic Disease Prevention

Effective Weight Loss Diets Have THESE Characteristics

Published: April 3, 2025

One of the most significant battles in nutrition revolves around the most effective ways to lose excess body weight and fat mass. One concept that has been emerging in recent years is to maximize how satiating our food is per calorie consumed. Eating a high-satiety-per-calorie diet allows us to eat until we are comfortably full (i.e., we do not need to suffer from hunger) while at the same time eating fewer calories. This approach is the centerpiece of the new HAVA smartphone app that helps users maximize how satiating their diet is per calories. In this video, Mario Kratz, PhD, discusses the concept of satiety per calorie as well as the HAVA app with its founder, Andreas Eenfeldt, MD. Dr. Eenfeldt is a medical doctor from Sweden who is also the founder of dietdoctor.com, the world’s largest website focused on low-carb eating.

The HAVA app uses strategies to maximize satiety per calorie that are similar to those shared in our YouTube playlist Keys to a Healthy Body Weight.

  1. Interesting piece showing how science-based nutrition focuses on understanding food and health deeply, not just quick tips or trends. It’s helpful to learn about ideas like satiety and evidence-based approaches so people can make informed choices about their diet and wellbeing.
