Poster: Being Mindful of Non-Hunger Eating

A Nourished by Science Poster: Download Your Copy Below

This is a poster to help you practice mindful eating, specifically to recognize non-hunger eating.

Non-hunger eating includes all eating that is not the result of physiological hunger, such as craving for highly rewarding foods or emotional eating due to feelings such as anxiety, boredom, or stress.

Non-hunger eating can have a powerful impact on our overall calorie intake, potentially playing a key role in weight gain. Non-hunger eating can also make weight loss more difficult. Becoming more mindful of non-hunger eating is an important first step to addressing this trigger of overeating, and to actively decide to replace eating with an activity that addresses our emotional or psychological needs.
