Mitochondria are the powerhouse of our cells, meaning they create much of the energy that our cells need to fuel physical movement as well as all of the biochemical processes needed to be alive. In this conversation, I talk to Nicolas Verhoeven, PhD, of the YouTube channel PHYSIONIC about what mitochondria are, and how they are involved in a number of chronic diseases from type 2 diabetes, heart disease, strokes, neurodegenerative diseases, and inherited/genetic conditions such as Huntington’s Disease. We also talk extensively about the diet and lifestyle factors that we can personally engage in to keep our mitochondria healthy and working at their optimal efficiency.
